Bygones

There will be good guys out there,
Mad, bad ones that you will try –
But they will all alter and settle.
You will try again and again
And, finally, you will see
That much good and much bad
Were also settling in me.

You may think there are people,
Out there, who will love you better –
But there is no “better”, just different.
There will be much to learn
And much, much more to see –
But I know what you won’t find:
And that is a better me!

I Am What I Feel

When you look at me,
You see what I feel,
You see when I am hurt,
You see when I heal.

I have no strength,
Or the will power,
To hide any truth
Of the day, or the hour.

If I cry, I swell,
If I laugh, I am loud;
In either case,
I stand out in the crowd.

Don’t tell me why
I should cover or hide
The depth of emotion,
Or its varying tide!

I am what I feel
I am the joy or sorrow
Of yesterday,
Today and tomorrow.

Reparation

I was done with the men;
I’d have kissed just you;
There were truths I meant
That I could make untrue;
The promises given,
I would keep every one –
And for you I’d have kept
Vigils under an unforgiving sun.
But you betrayed my love
And gave up on our time –
You took back what was yours
And left me nothing of mine.

I was done and now i’m back
I recall the hurt you spoke –
I make no apologies,
As I begin to repair
All that you broke.
I despair,
But I cope, and rise –
I cry; but I also know
Every tear dries –

When you go out
And search for your joy,
Fate shall keep a tab
On all you destroy.
Remember, as you live,
Life’s lessons are fires
That end up burning
Consummate liars.
