You said you wouldn’t leave;
You promised me lies;
You said many things
Like “love never dies”;
You spoke; and I believed;
I was a fool; a fool am I;
I lived to own truth
And prove love can never die.

Until Push Comes to Shove
She warned of a lover’s fate;
But I ascribed it to hate;
So, I neglected her view;
And fought her with words, too.
I am a fool in love,
Until push comes to shove;
So, when death came calling,
My heart was done stalling.
As promises lay broken,
While I pulled down each token,
Her words hung in the air,
“Most are not fools. Beware.”
Beware
She had warned me of fate;
But I ascribed it to hate;
So I neglected her view;
And fought her with words, too.
We are all fools in love –
But when push comes to shove,
And when death comes calling,
Then the heart is done falling.
Since promises lie broken,
You throw away each token –
While her words hang in the air:
“Most forget love, beware.”
