This Destiny.

When I woke up this morning,
You were beside me.
My eye opened into the brown of yours,
You were all I could see.

You moved your finger on my body,
I blinked and my lips parted,
You eyes smiled and the answer
My flesh gave was whole hearted.

Memory is to be treasured,
Though moments waste like flowers,
And in the mind’s eye,
There are no weeks, days or hours.

The thought of losing you,
Is bountiful with grief,
Destiny always robs me,
I cannot catch the thief,

But as I said, memory
Of this touch, this kiss,
Cannot be stolen by time’s destiny –
It is too strong for this.

Now I am thankful
That you choose me,
Thankful for your eye, your touch,
And this destiny.

To Ganapati.

Thou were brought home today with great ado,
Hearts welcomed thee with music and great love,
As I walked toward thee my wonder grew,
T’see rain greeting thy birth from Heaven above.
Clamour rang joyously through the night air,
And thy eyes looked on all through many veils,
To look on thee was to kill my despair,
Thou carried me away from life’s sordid tales.
Gold laden, curved trunk – my elephant God!
Remover of obstacles – wisest of all!
For moments it was just me and my Lord,
His eyes spoke and my heart answered His call.
I thank thee for this and thy knowing smile,
And for walking with me for a short while.

Agape

AGAPE.

Love is God’s nature.
The Greek language has a word for this kind of love, agape. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary gives agape this definition, self giving loyal concern that freely accepts another and seeks his or her good.

Written for the novel that I had begun, entitled the same.

The Burning Star tore out the sky,
Bloody Time made thee sing
A song of truth for those who die,
Against Power and his King.

Thou were taught to fight for thy own;
Take an eye for an eye!
But the Time of Hate has since flown,
And somewhere it will die!

For what reason the Fight, when he
Who thou were meant to hate
Is bound to thee by Love’s decree,
Writ by the hand of Fate?

The Burning Star showed thee the way;
The Song thou had to sing –
Of the brightness of a brand-new Day,
And the Love which It did bring.
