They come with caresses,
With promises of lies,
Maybe then they don’t know
What they started, dies;
They come with hope and more,
Ambition and desire,
They write “always” in texts,
With fast fingers on fire.
They may think they do mean
All that they type and say,
They may even believe
Their professed love will stay.
But little do they know,
In time, they all shall sleep,
While I struggle with all
They have failed to keep.

Morning Walk
I walked out in the morning,
Everything seemed new;
And whatever thoughts I had
Didn’t lead back to you.
I said, everything seemed new,
In that little time;
I forgot all of this life
That tells me it’s mine.
Dreams and fears didn’t tag along,
As I walked with my dogs;
There were no handsome princes
Who’d turn into frogs.
I didn’t think of my future;
I forgot my past;
And to that moment of time,
I didn’t ask if it’d last.
I smiled at people I saw,
Gardener and guard,
And for those random moments
Life didn’t seem so hard.
Bygones
There will be good guys out there,
Mad, bad ones that you will try –
But they will all alter and settle.
You will try again and again
And, finally, you will see
That much good and much bad
Were also settling in me.
You may think there are people,
Out there, who will love you better –
But there is no “better”, just different.
There will be much to learn
And much, much more to see –
But I know what you won’t find:
And that is a better me!
